| Because I was a math major... |

Even if I don't use it much.

If I were a Springer-Verlag Graduate Text in Mathematics, I would be Frank Warner's Foundations of Differentiable Manifolds and Lie Groups.
I give a clear, detailed, and careful development of the basic facts on manifold theory and Lie Groups. I include differentiable manifolds, tensors and differentiable forms. Lie groups and homogenous spaces, integration on manifolds, and in addition provide a proof of the de Rham theorem via sheaf cohomology theory, and develop the local theory of elliptic operators culminating in a proof of the Hodge theorem. Those interested in any of the diverse areas of mathematics requiring the notion of a differentiable manifold will find me extremely useful.

(And no, I don't understand what it means either.) |

| | geeky | ] | Sure is cold out. Hit 0 degrees this morning, that means it can't get any colder then this. Right????
Picked up a laptop for work today, so I can log in from home. They're switching everyone who needs to log in from home over to these laptops, which a) connect over a VPN, and b) are locked down. Was fooling around with it earlier. No way to put the dev environment on it though, I actually have to be connected to the office over the VPN. Fortunately I don't get called at home a whole lot, maybe once every few months. Since it's faster than the dial-up connection, maybe I'll feel motivated to do some real work on it. (I was testing out the speed by playing emacs tetris, it's fast enough for that.) |

| Plus ça change... |

plus c'est la même chose.
I was cleaning up the computer room, and came across a book from 1983, Questions & Answers on Word Processing. Some of the advice is just as true now as it was then. Of course, some things have changed a lot.
( Quotes from the book, and other things I found. ) |

| [ | mood |
| | amused | ] | I was looking at who shares some of my interests. stocks has 7 communities. 3 relating to investments, 3 relating to neopets (some sort of on-line virtual pets?), and bdsmdiy, for BDSM. (Think about it).
Recently, I've been exercising more. A couple of years ago, I set a goal of 3 miles in 30 minutes. Since the amount of jogging I did varied, I got closer and farther from that goal. A couple of weeks ago, I finally made it. Then 3 miles in 29 minutes, then 28 minutes (on my way to jogging 4 miles). All of sudden, something just clicked. I feel like I'm actually in some sort of shape. Now I just need to keep this level of intensity up. Did 1 mile in 8:17 today, plus some light weights. Next goal, 3.5 miles in 28 minutes, which is the "competitive" start for a race my company (Bloomberg) participates in. |

(Regardant reaches a hand upward, gets helped onto bandwagon.) Lots of people on here. (Waves to everybody)
Hopefully I'll be able to stay "on the wagon" and not lets this journal fall into disuse. Especially after I took so long to finally create one. |
